Linking to iTunes
Can I put partner links on my social profile?
Yes, you can place partner links on your social profiles (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc). But you cannot use your social profile page to apply to the program. Currently, we require for the application that you have a website or blog URL. Or, as a developer you can provide a link to your app on the App Store.
How do links work?
An partner-encoded link to the iTunes store will launch the iTunes software on a Mac or PC. The same link on a website or in an app on an iOS device will take the user out of your app and into the iTunes store. If a visitor to your website does not yet have iTunes installed on a PC, the link redirects their browser to a website where the user can download iTunes for free.
How do I create links?
Log in to your PHG account and look for the “Tools” section. Here you can find all of our link tools including Link Maker. We strongly encourage you to use Link Maker for creating links. You can also manually add your partner ID to the end of an iTunes, App Store or iBooks Store URL. Learn more by reading about basic partner linking.
What does the “at” value in my link mean?
The “at” value is your partner ID. Just add this to the end of any iTunes, App Store or iBooks Store URL to be eligible for commissions. For example, the link below is to the Singapore store (sg): https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345
What does the “ct” value in my link mean?
The “ct” value is campaign text that you can optionally add to any link in order to track sales from a specific marketing campaign. Later you can see in the reporting dashboard all clicks and sales related to the campaign text you added to your links. For example, the link below is to the Singapore store (sg): https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345&ct=email
What is the easiest way to create just a few partner links?
The easiest way to create partner links is to simply add your partner ID to the end of any iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store URL. Our Link Maker tool can also be used to find and link to partner-encoded iTunes links. Look for the Link Maker tool in your PHG account dashboard.
How can I create links in bulk?
iTunes also offers advanced linking tools for finding more than just a couple links. The Search and Lookup API allows partners to find links and metadata about iTunes content in a programmatic way. This tool is currently limited to approximately 20 calls per minute.
Should you have heavier usage requirements or an app that exceeds the current limits of the Search API, our Enterprise Partner Feed (EPF) may be a more appropriate solution. This enables partners to create their own database of iTunes content metadata. As we do not offer support or file management for EPF, we only recommend this option for partners who are able to independently manage the file produced by EPF. Read more here on the best ways to search for these types of content and to determine which tool is right for you.
How do I link to the iTunes top content from my website?
iTunes provides different RSS feeds for the top content in each of the stores. Using our RSS Feed Generator, you can easily create feeds for displaying top albums, top apps, top books and more.
How do I know if my partner link is working properly?
Clicks report in real-time through your PHG reporting dashboard. To ensure your partner link is working properly, click on any of your partner links and then check the PHG dashboard to see if the click is reported. If your test-click did not show up in your reporting, please visit our resource site on creating links. You can also reach out to us at our Partner Helpdesk with any questions.
Do you have other creative assets?
Yes, we have an easy to use Widget Builder that allows you to create a partner encoded search box or to feature an album, a playlist or a favorite app or book. Our Banner Builder tool allows you to create banner for for almost everything on the store.
In which countries can I earn commission?

How much commission will I earn?
As a partner, you can earn a commission on revenue generated by encoded links. Commissions are eligible on sales for up to 24 hours after a user clicks on your link. You will earn commission on sales less any local taxes imposed, such as sales tax or VAT.
All content types (music, movies, books, and TV and apps) currently earn a 7% commission rate, except for the Japan store where apps and in-apps earn a 2.5% commission rate. For more details and to access the Japanese version of our Program FAQ, click here.
