To create affiliate-coded links, follow these basic link guidelines.

You can create affiliate links for Apple Music by using our Apple Music Toolbox. You can also find embeddable widgets for albums, songs and playlists in the Toolbox. You can color customizable Apple Music icons and Follow badges when linking to artist pages. It’s everything you need to link to Apple Music, all in one convenient and easy to use Toolbox.

If you wish to manually create links for Apple Music, these links require additional parameters to enable Apple Music affiliate tracking. The following parameter: app=music, in addition to your affiliate token (at=12345), should be added to all Apple Music links to ensure proper attribution. So be sure to add these parameters to all Apple Music links to earn affiliate commission for Apple Music.

Example link: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/album/if-youre-reading-this-its/id966997496?app=music&at=12345

Note: All links provided by the Apple Music Toolbox automatically include the app=music parameter.

iTunes, App Store, iBooks, or Mac App Store

To create affiliate-coded links simply add to the end of any iTunes, App Store, iBooks, or Mac App Store URL the parameter “at” and your Affiliate Token.

This is a properly coded affiliate link for the account with Affiliate Token “12345”: https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345

Campaign Values

The “ct” value is campaign text that you can optionally add to any link in order to track sales from a specific marketing campaign. By using a campaign value, you will see in the reporting dashboard all clicks and sales related to that specific campaign.

For example, the link below has added a campaign tracking parameter for a newsletter link. You can name the campaigns anything you choose, but the “ct” value may not be longer than 40 characters:

https://itunes.apple.com/sg/artist/bruno-mars/id278873078?at=12345&ct=email

Parameters on a URL always follow a question mark (?) and are delimited by an ampersand (&).

Advanced Linking

Our Search API and Enterprise Partner Feeds are the best options to programmatically find links and meta data about any iTunes, App Store, iBooks, and Mac App Store content. Which tool you choose to use will depend on the volume of data you intend to acquire.

The iTunes Search API is limited to approximately 20 calls per minute. For heavier usage requirements, our Enterprise Partner Feed (EPF) is appropriate for affiliates who need to create their own database of our catalog of metadata. As we do not offer support for file management for EPF, we only recommend this option for affiliates who are able to independently manage the file produced by EPF. Further information can be found on the Affiliate Resource website.

For Apple Music content, you can also use the existing search and lookup APIs described here. We have added an object named “isStreamable” which will return a “true” or “false” value that indicates if a track is available in Apple Music.

For App developers, the Apple Music API allows you to directly control Apple Music playback for Members among other features. Learn More about the Apple Music API.

Links and iTunes

An affiliate link to the iTunes store will launch the iTunes software on a Mac or PC. If a visitor to your website does not yet have iTunes installed on a PC, the link redirects their browser to a website where the user can download iTunes for free. The same link in an app on an iOS device will take the user out of your app and into the iTunes, App Store, or iBooks.
