Advanced Linking

Our Search API and Enterprise Partner Feeds are the best options to programmatically find links and meta data about any iTunes, App Store, iBooks, and Mac App Store content. Which tool you choose to use will depend on the volume of data you intend to acquire.

The iTunes Search API is limited to approximately 20 calls per minute. For heavier usage requirements, our Enterprise Partner Feed (EPF) is appropriate for affiliates who need to create their own database of our catalog of metadata. As we do not offer support for file management for EPF, we only recommend this option for affiliates who are able to independently manage the file produced by EPF. Further information can be found on the Affiliate Resource website.

For Apple Music content, you can also use the existing search and lookup APIs described here. We have added an object named “isStreamable” which will return a “true” or “false” value that indicates if a track is available in Apple Music.

For App developers, the Apple Music API allows you to directly control Apple Music playback for Members among other features. Learn More about the Apple Music API.

An affiliate-encoded link to the iTunes store will launch the iTunes software on a Mac or PC. The same link on a website or in an app on an iOS device will take the user out of your app and into the iTunes store. Can I put affiliate links on my social profile?

Currently, we require for the application that you have a website or blog URL. Or, as a developer you can provide a link to your app on the App Store.

The “at” value is your Affiliate ID. Just add this to the end of any iTunes, App Store or iBooks Store URL to be eligible for commissions. For example, the link below is to the Singapore store

How can I create links in bulk?

If you already have multiple iTunes links on your website or blog and plan to add more in the future, use our Auto Link Maker javascript tool to automatically code your links.

iTunes also offers advanced linking tools for finding more than just a couple links. The Search and Lookup API allows affiliates to find links and metadata about iTunes content in a programmatic way. This tool is currently limited to approximately 20 calls per minute.

Should you have heavier usage requirements or an app that exceeds the current limits of the Search API, our Enterprise Partner Feed (EPF) may be a more appropriate solution. This enables affiliates to create their own database of iTunes content metadata. As we do not offer support or file management for EPF, we only recommend this option for affiliates who are able to independently manage the file produced by EPF.  Read more here on the best ways to search for these types of content and to determine which tool is right for you.
