Apple Music Premier Partner Program FAQ
What is the benefit of the Premier partner program over the Standard program?
Get paid faster. The Standard program pays on membership, so partners are paid after the 90-day trial period. With the Premier program, partners are paid when the free trial starts. This means Premier partners are paid 90 days faster.
Get paid more. With the Premier program, you are paid 2 to 3 times more commission than the Standard program. We pay 70% to 100% of the membership amount upfront on trial. For example, this is the equivalent of $7 to $10 USD per trial in the US. Payout rates vary by country, based on the cost of Apple Music subscriptions in each market.
Access more creative. You are eligible for special, custom creative available only to Premier partners and we can create any size you need.
Get personal support. Premier partners get ‘white-glove’ support from the Apple Services Performance Partners Team, with help getting set up, developing creative, checking links, and more.
What are the requirements of the program?
Ideally, Premier partners will drive a minimum of 500 to 1,000 trials per month. Partners who drive higher volumes of trials (20,000 to 30,000) with strong conversion rates may be eligible to be paid higher commissions.
Since Apple is talking a risk with payment on trial rather than membership, we may cap the numbers of trials a partner can initially do, pausing until we can see conversion from trial to memberships rates. Trial caps vary by market and partner placement. Conversion rates need to be above 35% to remain in the program. If the partner implementation does not appear a concern on conversion, Apple may waive the need for a test cap.
What is the trial cap per region during the pilot phase?
Trial caps vary by market and partner from 5,000 to 20,000, again as we wait to ensure conversion rates are appropriate. In most cases, the caps will be 10,000 trials per partner in the US and 5,000 trials per partner in smaller markets. If a partner has segmented marketing channels and uses multiple unique partner tokens, a larger cap is possible, as we can optimize placements by segment to ensure adequate conversion rates.
Weekly partner activity is closely monitored for each Premier partner. We will not pause commissions due to test caps without advance discussion with the partner.
Are the Performance Horizon platform terms and conditions of this program negotiable?
To be a part of the Apple Music Premier program, you must also be a registered partner on the Performance Horizon platform, agreeing to the partner terms and conditions. These are basic platform terms which cannot be changed.
If desired, an Apple partner program manager can send you an email with the agreed upon CPA payment rate. This payment rate also appears in the Performance Horizon platform interface, so the rate is verified in the platform as well.
Is the Premier program open to working on CPC or CPM?
The Apple Music Premier partner program only pays on a CPA basis, paying a cost per trial or cost per membership rate.
We are not able to pay a CPM or CPC payment; we are only able to pay a CPA and make payments via the Performance Horizon platform.
With the Premier program, budgets are unlimited as long as the partner maintains conversion rates above 35%.
What are the payment terms and how quickly will I be paid?
All payments to partners are made on behalf of Apple by Performance Horizon.
You will be paid in approximately 30 to 45 days after close of month. Apple pays Performance Horizon, our partner platform provider, who then releases funds to partners via the payments platform with a simple, rapid bank transfer to the partner.
Can you sign an Insertion Order and pay me direct via an Apple PO?
No, payments to partners are made on behalf of Apple by Performance Horizon. To be a part of the Apple Music Premier program, you must also be a registered partner agreeing with the Performance Horizon platform. On the platform, you simply add your banking information for easy payment.
I am nearly ready to launch. Is there anything else we need to do?
It is extremely important that any creative assets used in your campaign are submitted to Apple for approval before going live. Running creative that is not approved may be grounds for dismissal from the program. Please reach out to your Apple partner contact and we will provide expedited review and additionally ensure you use correct messaging and branding for Apple Music.
We have creative ready for you to use or you can create your own if you follow messaging guidelines and if we review and approve the art.
I want to see my reporting. How do I do this? Also, is there an API for easy access?
Please refer to our Reporting Guide for more information as well as screenshots on how to access your data both in the Performance Horizon UI or via the Performance Horizon reporting API. We have documentation on the API. The Apple Services Performance Partners team can assist you if you have questions.
